Hello,

Just making use of my intersteller sensors and it's obvious that there are quite a few fans of Dune in the game! always makes me smile when I see the references in planet names or player ID.

Just wondering what other less mainstream sci-fi people are into? I mean I love Star Trek and Stargate but they're way commercialised, Dune is a bit more "high-brow" maybe?

Has anyone read any of Peter Hamilton's books? I'm a massive fan of his and also Greg Bear (Eon being one of my fave books of all time). You can't beat a good sci-fi epic! :D

Personally, I prefer Isaac Asimov for sci-fi. I loved reading the Foundation series of his as well as his other works. I wish he were still alive and writing as I'd love more from him.

I too have noticed a number of sci-fi references out there for planet names. There are also musical references (i.e. song names, etc).

Firefly and Dollhouse, though some people don't consider it sci-fi. <3 Joss Whedon

Also Asimov is the boss. Just saying.

Were you in NPO in the Fall? You would have loved that, we were the Reavers.

Same here. I introduced my boyfriend to the Foundation series and I'm re-reading them with him now. quite cool to talk about them as we read them. sad but cool. :P My Kindle has really come into its own now.

We're big Firefly fans, no-one gets it when we say "shiny"! :P

My best friend and I say 'gorram it' all the time. It pisses off the rest of our friends to no end :P Professors also get confused as to why my various papers and tests are 'shiny'.
