I have AVG anti-virus, Spybot and Malware Bytes installed, can Microsoft Essentials replace all these? Does the Essentials program use alot of system resources?

I'm not sure this is really the right forum for this. I'll give a suggestion just the same. I prefer Symantec products (Norton for consumer-based versions). Norton 360 seems to be a reasonable decent all-in-one package. Doesn't seem to suck up too many resources.

I generally shy away from any MS "defense" apps. I've never had a very good track record when testing their products against known issues that other apps tend to find and protect against. That's my experience. Others may have a different experience.

Honestly not really sure, probably so that they can get help without having to sign up. We're looking into ways of reducing spam right now.

Personally I don't think it's to much to ask that a person sign up to get posting rights. A new player can still get most all their question answered by reading the guides and FAQ. If they need to ask a direct question they should sign up. That would take care of most spam.

I find their choice of scam hilarious, given that DX11 is likely already on your computer, and if it isn't it can't be put on your computer.

Win7, Linux, Mac OSX, XP, Server 2008 R2 + symantec = no viruses since I kicked my fiancee off the domain 8 years ago.

Silly fiancee didn't tell me there was no AV on the new laptop before I added it to the domain. I'll never make the mistake of not checking for AV before adding a system to my domain again.
