Origins Return – Game Rules and Regulations The following rules and regulations apply to every player and may not be infringed. Any player not abiding by these rules and regulations shall be disciplined. §1 Accounts Each player creates his own account, and shall only hold one account per universe. The images, nicknames or logins, and planet names used should be decent and in any case should not be discriminatory, of erotic, racist or religious nature or referencing any staff member. A player account shall not be lent and is owned only by its owner, except on the following cases. An account may be managed by several people on the sole condition that none of them owns an account in the related universe. The account owner is the owner of the last know email address, and is the only person who may represent the account to a Game Master. The players may own an account in each currently opened universe. §1.1 Account lending If required, a player (the lender) may lend his account to a friend (the manager) playing in the same universe for a maximum period of 5 days. In order to do so, the lender must notify the administrators by sending a message in the forum (http://forum.origins-return.com), in the "Account Lending" section. This notification is mandatory, and failure to do so will result in penalty (particularly in ban). The actual owner of the account is the sole person able to lend his account. No one else is authorized to do so. The loan cannot exceed 5 days. The manager can switch the account in pause mode (for a period of at least 48 hrs) until the creator of the account comes back. No complaint against the manager shall be considered. Prior to the loan, the two players shall agree on the lending terms, on the project and the development that should occur while playing with the lent account. The manager may not use the lent account for his personal usage (resources barters – military or specialized equipments – and attacks between the two accounts are forbidden), nor exchange information regarding the actual owner of the account. A lent account may be lent again, but only after a 10-day period. §1.2 Gift of an Account A player who decides to stop playing may possibly bestow his account to another person provided that the aforementioned rules and regulations are agreed and upheld. The person receiving the account may obviously not be registered in the same universe as the person bestowing the account. No complaint from the new account owner shall be considered in case of multiple account penalty. In case the new owner already holds one account in the same universe, he shall relinquish or bestow it. From the moment where the player is accessing his new account, he may not log in his old account anymore; otherwise he will be subjected to penalties. A player may not sell his account or exchange it with anything whatsoever with economic value or exterior to the game. The accounts are the ownership of Origins Return who may delete them or get them back any time and without any specific cause. §1.3 Password The password is akin to the account ownership. Passing on the password is identical to passing on the account. The account owner and the person who receives the password shall abide by rule §1. Thus, the password transfer is forbidden except for Account Lending or the gift of an account. No account theft complaint shall be accepted. §1.4 Multiple Accounts (common use of a computer or a connection) The multiple account regulation focuses on players connecting from the same computer, playing in a Cybercafé, a high school or any other place where computers are networked. The use of Multiple Accounts is forbidden. People likely to be in multiple account case needs to pay attention to the following rules: • Any transaction on resources, military or specialized equipments, is strictly prohibited. • It is prohibited to attack oneself. §1.5 Pause Mode Any player can set his game in "Pause" mode from the "Profile" link in the game page. The "Pause" mode allows you to go on vacation, or to stop playing for some time, without the threat of attacks. The "Pause" Mode lasts at least 48 hrs. Once the "Pause" mode is switched off, you cannot switch back to "Pause" mode again for the next 72 hrs. When a player's game is in "Pause" mode, the ongoing constructions and searches are completed while resources productions are halted on every planet. If there is an ongoing attack at the time of the "Pause" mode switch, the attack will be completed. A player cannot use the "Pause" mode to protect him against an attack that he initiated himself. Switching to "Pause" mode less than 2 hrs after the last launched attack is prohibited. §2 Trade §2.1 Principle Trade is only valid if there is an actual exchange between 2 players. Any resources sent to another player without similar compensation within 48 hrs, even inside an alliance, shall qualify the player as a cheater. A "trade pact" or a "total pact" must be established with another player before you are allowed to trade with him. This requires accessing the "Mission Explorer" section of the Space Gate. The trade, military or total pacts are established only upon agreement of the players, without possible commitment (except the case of Alliances Covenants, managed by the internal regulations). Any threat or blackmail may be disciplined. §2.2 Rules The trade between two players shall comply with the official exchange rates, plus or minus 10%. The rates are: 4 Iron Units = 3 Gold Units = 2 Crystal Units = 1 Hydrogen Unit; and 1 soldier = 1 Iron Unit and 1 Energetic Cell = 10,000 Iron Units. The Trade rates are available in the sticky topic "Rules and Writing Guidelines" of the Purchase/Sell section. A player may not receive resources without compensation except if he has fewer points than the donor. As a precaution and in order to avoid any push situation that may entail penalties, you can check the balance of your exchanges with another player in the Trade > Exchange Balance tab in the game. An account used to replenish another one (either by exchange or by raid) will be deleted and the person who benefits from that may be severely disciplined, from penalties to permanent ban. A trade may only involve an exchange of resources, military or specialized equipments. Any other trade is prohibited and will be disciplined. §3 Attacks §3.1 Principle The players may attack the other players a certain number of times per day, depending on the situation (declared war or not) between them and the type of attack used (Gate Attack, Space Attack, attack on a magnetic lock). An Attack Manager is monitoring the game in order to prevent the players to override the rules of attacks. §3.2 Rules of Attacks A player may attack another player at most 6 times in 72 hrs, and 3 times at most in 24 hrs (except under §4.3). In particular, Space Gate Attacks are restricted to two per day and per player, at a proportion of one per player. When the 72 hrs have expired (and/or the 6 attacks are launched), and notwithstanding the number of attacks, the player shall wait another 72 hrs before attacking this player again. This rest time starts from the latest attack. The cycles are based on the attacks launch date, and not on their occurrence. A manager has been implemented in order to enforce this rule. If the player is inactive, the preceding rules don't apply. During an active war, the number of daily attacks is unlimited, but once the war is finished, the normal attack rules apply. The attack count is reset in relation to the war attacks. §3.3 The Magnetic Locks The Magnetic Locks protects against another player intrusion through the Space Gate. They are only available through credits. You may purchase Credits by Allopass or Paypal. If a Credit should malfunction, you can contact the staff. §4 Alliances §4.1 Principle Alliances are voluntary gatherings of players sharing a common inclination (ideas, goals, powers…). An Alliance must abide by basic rules such as an appropriate name, an appropriate alliance page (content and layout), inoffensive images… Just like accounts, an alliance management cannot be exchanged with money, any thing with monetary value or not related to the game. If the Alliance founder quits, he is responsible of deciding the future of the Alliance (cancellation, new founder…). This point shall be determined by the Alliance internal regulation and not by Origins Return. §4.2 Alliances Any player is entitled to create and lead his own Alliance. A player may join any alliance of his choosing by requesting an admission through the "Alliance" link in the game page. He may only join one Alliance at a time and shall abide by the rules of its leader. A player may also leave an Alliance whenever he wants to, and join another Alliance or stay alone provided that he complies with the War Exception. No complaint against an Alliance internal regulation may be made by a player except if its internal regulation does not comply with these rules and regulations, or with the French law, the doctrine or the ethics. A player who breaches too much the trust of the members of an Alliance may be disciplined. Treachery is not regarded as a breach of trust. §4.3 State of War For an Alliance to declare a war or been declared a war upon, it must have at least two members. In case of war between Alliances, the number of daily attacks is unlimited during the entire war and there is no waiting period between several attacks. A war may only be declared on an Alliance, not on a player. An acceptation from both sides is not required to start a war. The inexistence of such an acceptation does not impede its progression. As a result, Alliance leaders are advised to frequently check the War section of the forum to ensure that they are not involved in a war. The Alliances involved in a war may not change their tag for the duration the war. A player who joins an Alliance involved in a war is required to stay in it for at least 72 hrs. A player may not leave a warring alliance before 24 hrs have passed following the latest attack of this player (Lockers are ensuring that these rules are applied). A war ends when an Alliance leaves it or after the annihilation of one or both Alliances. An Alliance can declare war on 10 Alliances at most. The Alliance can nonetheless be involved in an unlimited number of wars. Under a declaration of war, wing are treated as full Alliances. If a declaration of war topic in the forum remains inactive for 2 weeks, the war is regarded as ended and will be deactivated without agreement of both sides. Any war may be ended upon demand of an Alliance on the side of the Alliance having declared the war if the latter was not notified of the state of war. §5 Technical help use Any technical help such as scripts or bots is prohibited. The only authorized way to play the game is with an ordinary web browser. Any add-on automating tasks and procedures are prohibited. Players using such tools may be disciplined. The use of spreadsheets or text files is allowed. Any player discovering a technical help which may be prohibited is advised to notify the staff. §6 Bugs and errors Errors and bugs should be immediately reported in the relevant forum section. Using bugs or error in order to gain a profit or an advantage is prohibited. Doing so will result in punishments. If a crash or an important bug occurs, an encrypted error message will be displayed. You need to attach this error message in your post in the forum. Please check prior if the same message has not already been reported by another player. If a player thinks he was severely disciplined as a result of a bug, he may notify the Origins Return Staff in the forum. The Staff will examine the player's allegation and decide on canceling the penalty or not. The Staff may not be held liable of any bug or any issue related to a bug (see §12). §7 Hacking Attempt Hacking or attempting to hack the account of another player, for any reason whatsoever, will result in the suppression of the account of the player at fault. He will be banned and will no longer be able to recreate his account nor access the website. Hacking or attempting to hack the game itself (or its forum), for any reason whatsoever, will result in the suppression of the account of the player. He will be banned and will no longer be able to recreate his account nor access the website, and may face criminal charges. We remind every player that the accounts, the servers, the websites, the forum and their contents are the ownership of http://www.virtual-developpement.com and that any hacking attempt, reproduction or damage may result in criminal charges. §8 Insult or Threats against a player or a Game Master The Staff reminds that Origins Return is a game, and that a correct attitude is required. Any non fair-play attitude or any act resulting in the inability for a player or a group of player to play may be disciplined. E.g.: Voluntary decreasing points (by massively sending elements to another player) in order to attack a weak player or to avoid being attacked and/or retaliation by strong players. The player shall in any circumstances use a correct and respectful tone when addressing another person: gross and insulting language, as well as language that may be offensive against the youngest people, are prohibited in the Game and in the Forum. The same rule applies with regards to Nicknames, Planet names and Alliance names. Non-complying with this rule and/or non cooperation with a Universe moderator (in order to make a change) may result in permanent ban. §8.1 Insults Any insult against a player will be punished: the insulted player must notify a Game Master or a moderator in order to request a sanction (see the penalties table for the duration). Any insult taken out of context or formulated outside the game or the Forum will not be considered by the Game Masters. Insulting a Game Master, a moderator or an administrator will result on an account locking without prior notice and for a time period established by the Game Masters. §8.2 Threats Any threat, outside the circumstances of the game, against a player or a Game Master, in the game or in the Forum, may result in penalties. Any threat taken out of context or formulated outside the game or the Forum will not be considered by the Game Masters. §9 Cheating The cheating includes: Taking advantage of a bug for personal purposes. Any player discovering a bug shall report it in the relevant Forum section. Sharing an account without a declared account loan. Owning several accounts in the same Universe (Players must only possess one account per open Universe). Spamming or Hacking Origins Return servers. IP address are logged and checked. Two accounts using regularly the same IP will be banned. If you are playing in a Cybercafé, a high school or are several players using the same computer, you must indicate it in the "Multiple Accounts" section of the Forum and comply with the relevant rules. §10 Penalties Moderators and administrators decide the relevant penalty after a rule violation. The penalties are variables: cautions, temporary decrease of resources production, temporary ban or game exclusion by total deletion of the account. If there is a dispute, the account will be locked until a final decision is reached. In certain cases, two different penalties may apply for one violation. In such case, the player may request another moderator to amend these penalties. The final decision (whether it amended the penalties or not) is mandatory. Depending on the circumstances, the development of the Universe or the way the player is acting, penalties may vary. A table of penalties, for information purposes only, is available in the Forum for all players to check. The Staff reserves the right to reject and/or punish any act that does not respect the ethics or may harm the development of the game. The penalties are applied based upon the detection systems present in the game, and from information found in the Forum or within the Game. Due to its full ownership of Origins Return, the Staff is not required to expose the evidences that led to the sanctions against a player. A sanction may be disputed. The dispute claim shall be posted in the relevant section of the Origins Return Forum and examined by the Staff which would decide at last resort. Only the Staff may later decide to rescind a penalty. §11 Disadvantages If a player is disadvantaged as a result of a possible bug or a server crash, no correction or refund may be requested to a Game Master: no refund is allowed for any reason whatsoever. After an update or a bug fix (more or less long) which could result in a disadvantage, compensation is not mandatory. The Staff Member(s) responsible for the update may decide for a possible compensation. If that is not the case, the players may not request compensation. The supervisors and the administrators may decide to back the accounts up following serious issues that have affected a majority of players. The backups decided by the Staff are generally a last resort decision and cannot be claimed as damages to one or several players. The Staff alone may decide on a collective compensation. §12 Responsibility and Applicable Law French law, and any conventions with which it adheres, shall apply for any dispute. No member of the Origins Return Staff may be held personally liable of his actions as Origins Return Staff member. If these actions may not be detached from his functions, the Game itself will be responsible. Any penalty enforced in the game or the Forum is only between Origins Return and the sanctioned player. The Origins Return Staff only may decide to apply a penalty or not, depending on the game and Forum rules and regulations. Any player who agreed to these rules is willing to accept the consequences, such as possible penalties. Disputes may only be claimed against Origins Return. Origins Return may not be held responsible of any inconvenience resulting from a bug. For more information, you can read the Terms of Use. The Origins Return Staff reserves the right to make any modifications it deems necessary at any time to the regulations. These modifications apply immediately and affect the current case.
